EL PASO, TX – The Hospitals of Providence Sierra Campus is proud to be the only hospital in El Paso to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its Inpatient Rehabilitation Program and Stroke Specialty Program.

This CARF accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be given to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving this recognition has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated its commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality.

“For over 10 years, our team has been helping patients reach their goals and regain their functionality to improve their quality of life,“ said Tasha Hopper, interim Chief Executive Officer for The Hospitals of Providence Sierra Campus.  “Being the only inpatient rehab center in El Paso to achieve this milestone is a testament to the care our team provides.”

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit provides stroke patients and patients suffering from injuries or life altering events with advanced rehabilitative care and expertise to promote recovery and increase functionality.

“When recovering from a stroke or serious injury, it is critically important to have an interdisciplinary team with the expertise and knowledge to promote recovery and healing,” said Dr. Jose Porras, Internal Medicine Specialist and Medical Director for the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at the Sierra Campus.  “Our goal is to provide our patients with the best possible outcomes and help ensure they return to their everyday life and activities.”

The Stroke Specialty Program assists stroke patients and their loved ones throughout the recovery process and encourages independent living, wellness and support. The program provides ongoing access to information, services and resources to enhance and improve stroke survivors’ quality of life.  The Stroke Specialty Program offers stroke prevention education to the community through various community events and hosts a Stroke Support Group for caregivers and survivors.
