The Hospitals of Providence Announces $15M Eastlake Land Purchase

EL PASO, Texas — The Hospitals of Providence announced it has purchased 30 acres of land off Eastlake Blvd. in its ongoing effort to expand access to care for the community.  This $15 million dollar land purchase investment has been a multi-year journey to meet the growing healthcare needs of far East El Paso and Horizon City. 

The announcement was made at a community event on Friday with civic, community and healthcare leaders from across the region to commemorate the network’s newest addition – The Hospitals of Providence Eastlake Campus.  The plans for Eastlake Campus are to expand access to physician clinics and outpatient services with the initial development of a medical healthcare complex set to break ground in 2024. 

“We are thrilled to be making this investment to improve access to care for our friends and families in far East El Paso and Horizon City,” said Nicholas Tejeda, Group President – Western Group for Tenet Healthcare.  “We have always said we are committed to growing with our community and as we have seen the area grow so rapidly, we know this is a much needed project to offer convenient access to care.”

The Hospitals of Providence is proud to be the region’s largest  healthcare network with over 60 access points across the city.  In 2008, The Hospitals of Providence opened East Campus as the only hospital in the area to begin serving East El Paso and since then has invested to expand needed bed capacity, in addition to working to improve access to trauma care services.  In 2017, The Hospitals of Providence Horizon City Hospital was unveiled – a neighborhood hospital offering emergency and inpatient care to patients in Horizon City.
