Providence Children’s Hospital Introduces El Paso’s First Voyager Neonate Transport Incubator

Oct 6, 2022

EL PASO, Texas — Providence Children’s Hospital is proud to introduce El Paso’s first Voyager neonate transport incubator for the use of medically transporting critically ill infants needing a higher level of care.

Transporting a critically ill infant requires unique equipment and highly trained clinicians to accomplish the lifesaving mission. The Voyager offers the ability to transform into a mobile NICU with a wide range of clinical therapies and capabilities, offering thermoregulation, in addition to high frequency ventilation all during transport until the baby is received at the hospital for the continuance of care. The new transport incubator allows for both aeromedical and ambulance transport and will service the El Paso and Southern New Mexico region.

“For over 42 years, Providence Children’s Hospital is proud to have had a highly trained and dedicated Neonatal Emergency Transport Team, the first in El Paso, to travel all over the region to care and transport some of the most critically ill babies,” said Rob J. Anderson, CEO for The Hospitals of Providence Memorial Campus and Providence Children’s Hospital.  “The addition of this neonate transport incubator allows our transport team to support infants in need with the most advanced technology to ensure they are properly monitored and cared for during transport. We are committed to doing everything possible to help care for the sickest of babies, in their time of greatest need.”

Providence Children’s Hospitals is proudly recognized as a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Level IV Maternal Care Center, offering the highest level of care for both mom and baby.

“Having a sick baby is an incredibly stressful time for any parent – our goal is to help reassure parents that their baby is receiving the highest level of care from the time our transport team picks up their baby until their baby is received at our Level IV NICU to continue receiving care,” said Anderson.  “We are extremely proud to be bringing this advanced technology to our region to care for the tiniest of babies.”
