EL PASO, TX – This week, The Hospitals of Providence is vaccinating educators from nine of the El Paso School Districts, including El Paso ISD, Anthony ISD, Canutillo ISD, Clint ISD, El Paso ISD, Fabens ISD, San Elizario ISD, Socorro ISD, Tornillo ISD, Ysleta ISD, as well as Cathedral High School and Loretto Academy. This vaccination process will begin this Thursday.

“We look forward to welcoming our teachers this week as we begin the vaccination process for our school districts,” said Nicholas Tejeda, Group CEO for The Hospitals of Providence. “We commend our teachers and educators for the incredible job they have been doing during this challenging time and feel proud to be able to vaccinate them so they can safely continue teaching our children.”

Through their ongoing collaboration with the State of Texas and City of El Paso, The Hospitals of Providence has been working to increase their vaccination allocation so they can continue administering vaccines to the community.

"Throughout the pandemic we have relied on partners like The Hospitals of Providence to keep our students, staff and families healthy through these most difficult of times," said EPISD Interim Superintendent Vince Sheffield. "We are now grateful that Providence is helping us vaccinate our employees so that we can continue our work of providing high-quality teaching and learning to the students of El Paso in a way that is safe and secure."

“The one thing our teachers have continually asked for is the opportunity to get vaccinated so to receive a call from Mr. Tejeda directly letting us know The Hospitals of Providence wants to get our teachers vaccinated shows true partnership and community spirit,” said Dr. Jeannie Meza-Chavez, Superintendent of San Elizario Independent School District. “This is a blessing and an answer to our prayers and we look forward to our teachers safe return to the classroom.”

In addition to their efforts this week of vaccinating teachers, The Hospitals of Providence most recent efforts have targeted vaccinating individuals 75 years and older in rural and underserved areas of town.

“Canutillo ISD would like to thank our valued partners like The Hospitals of Providence who are working hard to ensure our essential teachers and staff receive the COVID-19 vaccination in order to keep our school community safe,” said Dr. Pedro Galaviz, Superintendent of Canutillo Independent School District. “This is in addition to Hospitals of Providence supporting our community as a whole as they provided vaccination to our super seniors of 75 years and older.”

“We couldn’t be more appreciative of The Hospitals of Providence for helping connect our Socorro ISD employees with COVID-19 vaccine opportunities,” said Dr. Jose Espinoza, Superintendent of Socorro Independent School District. “Working together as a unified community is the only way we are going to overcome the immense challenges we are facing due to the global pandemic. The Hospitals of Providence, together with our other community partners, have been great leaders in supporting our efforts to Keep SISD Safe.”

“This is our first step in the vaccination process for our teachers and we will continue the effort until the mission is accomplished.” said Tejeda. “As we receive more vaccines, we will continue to vaccinate the people in our community who need it most.”
