Gustavo “Gus” Martell, MD, FACOG serves as The Hospitals Chief Medical Officer at the Transmountain Campus. Dr. Martell has 22 years of clinical and progressive healthcare management experience. He is a local El Pasoan and a University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) alumni. Dr. Martell is Texas Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In the past, he has served as Chairman of the OB/GYN Department at a local hospital, Chairman of the Credentials Committee, Chairman of Professional Review Committee and Secretary of Medical Executive Committee.

As Chief Medical Officer for Transmountain Campus, Dr. Martell oversees clinical operations and serves as a liaison between physicians and our administrative team. Dr. Martell is also responsible for building the medical student and residency program to assure alignment with our goals and quality of care.

Dr. Martell holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed his OB/GYN Internship and Residency at Texas Tech University Health Science Center (TTUHSC) in El Paso, Texas.
